How this count works
For each recorded absence, the reminder date is the departure date plus two calendar years. The numerical absence total excludes departure and return dates. This counter shows the recorded absence whose reminder date is nearest.
An absence over two years can lead to loss of residence authorization if not justified. Federal Police guidance provides an opportunity to explain the absence and a loss procedure with defense rights. This reminder based on calendar dates does not determine status.
