Louisiana presence record — six-month review calculator

Louisiana treats domicile, a permanent place of abode, or more than six months in the state as separate grounds for residence.

How this count works

Counts recorded dates in Louisiana during the calendar year, including part days. US days recorded without a state are not counted.

The six-month requirement should not be treated as an exact universal 184-day rule. Recorded dates help document time in Louisiana, but a person can be resident through domicile or a permanent abode even with fewer days.
