What the tool measures
A date or day-count reminder

Most Canadian visitor admissions allow up to six months, although the officer may grant a shorter or longer stay.

Who it applies to

Ordinary visitors to Canada, rather than holders of a separate permission such as a super visa.

The rule

If no stamp showing when you must depart was given, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada describes six months from entry or the earlier expiry of passport or biometrics. Use the actual immigration permission whenever a date is specified. A reminder based on calendar dates does not apply for an extension.

Counting the days

The estimated reminder date is the recorded arrival date plus 6 calendar months. The end date actually authorized for your stay may be earlier or later.

  1. Choose the date through which you want to count, then add your recorded visits.
  2. Use the counting convention above. Overlapping recorded dates in the relevant region are counted only once.
  3. Read the result alongside the conditions. Missing records and other eligibility requirements are not inferred from a total.

Exceptions & edge cases

Your officer may grant less or more than six months. For an unstamped ordinary visitor stay, passport or biometrics expiry can shorten the period. Super visas differ. Follow the actual authorized date and apply for any extension separately.

Common misconceptions

“A counter result is the same as permission or eligibility.”

The counter measures recorded dates. Your actual permission, status and other conditions remain separate.

“Unrecorded days are included in the total.”

The calculator uses only the dates you enter. Missing history can make the result incomplete.
