How this count works

For each recorded absence, the reminder date is the departure date plus one calendar year. The numerical absence total excludes departure and return dates. This counter shows the recorded absence whose reminder date is nearest.

This reminder concerns time outside the European Union, European Economic Area and Switzerland. A separate six-year absence from the Netherlands also matters. Previous EU Blue Card status and other exceptions may change the rules.
