How this count works
For each recorded absence, the reminder date is the departure date plus one calendar year. The numerical absence total excludes departure and return dates. This counter shows the recorded absence whose reminder date is nearest.
Long-term residence can be lost after twelve consecutive months outside EU territory. Other permit types and EU long-term status in another member state follow different rules.
