What the tool measures
A date or day-count reminder

A Singapore permanent resident who is outside Singapore without a valid re-entry permit may need to apply for a new permit within 180 days of a specified event.

Who it applies to

Permanent residents covered by the re-entry permit rules effective from 1 December 2025.

The rule

The relevant event is departure from Singapore without a valid re-entry permit, or expiration of the permit while the resident is abroad. Select the event that applies to you.

Applying within 180 days does not preserve permanent resident status if the application is unsuccessful. Enter the application submission date to stop this reminder. Returning to Singapore is not a substitute for the application.

Counting the days

Enter the date of departure without a valid re-entry permit, or the date the permit expired while you were abroad, as applicable. The reminder adds 180 days to that date. Submission of an application does not guarantee approval.

  1. Choose the date through which you want to count and enter the required permission or event dates.
  2. Use the counting convention above. Overlapping recorded dates in the relevant region are counted only once.
  3. Read the result alongside the conditions. Missing records and other eligibility requirements are not inferred from a total.

Exceptions & edge cases

Under the rules effective from 1 December 2025, a permanent resident who departs Singapore without a valid re-entry permit generally must apply within 180 days of departure. If the permit expires while the resident is abroad, the period generally starts on that expiration date. Returning to Singapore does not replace the application requirement. An unsuccessful application can still result in loss of permanent resident status. Enter the application submission date to stop this reminder.

Common misconceptions

“A counter result is the same as permission or eligibility.”

The counter measures recorded dates. Your actual permission, status and other conditions remain separate.

“Unrecorded days are included in the total.”

The calculator uses only the dates you enter. Missing history can make the result incomplete.
