How this count works
For each recorded absence, the reminder date is the departure date plus six calendar months. The numerical absence total excludes departure and return dates. This counter shows the recorded absence whose reminder date is nearest.
This six-month absence reminder concerns renewal or extension of permits valid for less than two years. For permits valid for at least two years, a different rule uses more than half of the the validity of the permit period. Military duties and other serious documented reasons can provide exceptions. This reminder cannot determine whether renewal is allowed.
